Bau
As part of the work, a section of approximately 19 kilometres of the existing A9 was widened from four to six lanes. This was carried out in 4 construction phases while maintaining traffic on the A9 highway at all times.
As part of the widening, 16 highway structures and 5 flyover structures were also built. In addition, two parking areas with toilet facilities, 16 rainwater retention basins and 5.5 km of noise protection structures were built.
The construction work was started by the joint venture ‘Arge A9 EW Thüringen’ in October 2011 and was largely completed by autumn 2016. The majority of the route was put into operation in winter 2014.
