The widening and renovation of the A9 highway between the Lederhose junction and the Bavarian border opened up new opportunities for nature-oriented reconstruction work. This involved unsealing parking areas that were no longer needed and remediating contaminated soil.

Via Gateway Thüringen also focuses on environmental protection and sustainability in its operating services. Only the very latest technology is used on the track. Our staff collect waste and environmentally hazardous materials along the route on a daily basis and dispose of them properly.

The rainwater retention basins are also regularly cleaned and maintained. In the event of an accident, we close the retention facilities immediately to prevent any risk to public waters. And when it comes to winter road maintenance, we use as much salt as necessary, but as little as possible.
